Heyddys Valentín

Heyddys Valentín is a Dominican fencer who overcame a life-threatening knee injury that nearly resulted in the amputation of her leg. After a challenging recovery, she returned to the sport and has since become a multiple medalist in Pan American and Central American competitions. Initially finding her passion for fencing at the age of 16, she quickly rose to join the national youth team. In addition to her athletic career, Valentín is pursuing a degree in Clinical Psychology and aims to support athletes emotionally in the future. Currently pregnant, she plans to return to competition in 2026 to represent the Dominican Republic at the Central American Games, while also expressing concern over the internal crisis affecting her federation.
