Hindmarsh is a seasoned paddler and captain of a waka ama crew that recently experienced a near-miss incident due to the wakes of speeding powered vessels while navigating near Whakatāne, New Zealand. At nearly 70 years old, he demonstrated remarkable resilience and leadership as his crew paddled through the challenging conditions, ultimately reporting the incident to the Coastguard to advocate for safer boating practices. Hindmarsh and his crew are set to participate in the World Sprint Championships in Singapore, showcasing their dedication to the sport despite the challenges they face on the water.
