Hiroshi Nakamura was the son of Kikuyo Nakamura, born in 1948, three years after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. He was diagnosed with stage 4 leukemia, which his mother believed was a consequence of her exposure to radiation during the bombing, leading to profound guilt and trauma for Kikuyo.
