Hồ Nghinh was a prominent Vietnamese politician who served as the Secretary of the Quang Nam-Da Nang Provincial Party Committee. He is best known for his crucial role in preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Hoi An during the post-war period, where he successfully intervened to halt the destruction of ancient temples and pagodas, arguing for their importance to the community and future generations. His efforts were instrumental in ensuring that Hoi An's unique architectural legacy was maintained, leading to its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.
