Ho Viet Hai, born in 1985, is the co-founder and CEO of Alternō, a Vietnamese startup that has developed an innovative sand battery technology designed to store thermal energy. His journey began in 2023 while living in a remote area of Lam Dong, where he recognized the limitations of conventional lithium batteries for agricultural heating needs. By utilizing sand's thermal retention properties, Hai's technology can maintain high temperatures for months, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Alternō has gained international attention, securing orders from countries like Japan, the Philippines, and Kenya, and has been recognized at the P4G 2025 Summit in Hanoi, where it showcased green technology solutions. Hai's vision is to create a sustainable future for agriculture and light industry in Vietnam and other developing nations.
