Hugh de Kretser

Hugh de Kretser is an accomplished Australian human rights lawyer and the current president of the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC). With a background in law and arts from the University of Melbourne, he has dedicated his career to advocating for social justice and human rights. He previously served as the CEO of the Yoorrook Justice Commission, focusing on the rights of Indigenous Australians, and has held positions at the Victorian Federation of Community Legal Centres and the Human Rights Law Centre. Appointed as AHRC president in 2022, he is known for his commitment to fostering dialogue among diverse communities and addressing contemporary human rights challenges.
