Hulda María Guðjónsdóttir

Hulda María Guðjónsdóttir was just ten years old when a devastating avalanche struck Flateyri, Iceland, on October 26, 1995, claiming twenty lives and destroying homes. She remembers the chaos of that night vividly, having been asleep with her sister when the avalanche hit their family home. The lower level of their house was destroyed, but the upper level survived, allowing Hulda and her family to rebuild their lives. They eventually returned to Flateyri and constructed a new home, where her mother still resides.
