Topçu was elected to the Pendik Municipal Council in the 2019 local elections and continued to serve as the Deputy Group Chairman until his passing in 2023. His contributions to local governance and the AK Party were recognized by many, including the Istanbul provincial chairman and the Minister of Justice, who offered condolences upon his death.
