Hussein al-Huthi (1959–2004) was a Yemeni religious and political leader who founded the Houthi movement, formally known as Ansar Allah, which emerged in the 1990s. He led a rebellion against the Yemeni government in 2004, which resulted in his death at the hands of Yemeni forces. His legacy has significantly influenced the ongoing conflict in Yemen, as the Houthi movement has been involved in a protracted civil war since 2014, fighting against the internationally recognized Yemeni government and receiving support from Iran.
