Hussein Badreddin al-Huthi
Hussein Badreddin al-Huthi was a Yemeni political and religious leader who founded the Houthi movement, formally known as Ansar Allah, in the 1990s. He emerged as a prominent figure in Yemen's political landscape due to his opposition to the central government's policies and perceived marginalization of the Zaidi Shia community. Al-Huthi was killed by Yemeni government forces in 2004, but his legacy continued as the movement he founded evolved into a powerful militia involved in Yemen's ongoing civil conflict, significantly influencing the country's political dynamics and its relations with regional actors such as Iran.
