
Igbal Abilov
Igbal Abilov is a 36-year-old researcher and lecturer who has lived in Belarus since childhood. He graduated from the Faculty of International Relations at Belarusian State University and later completed his master's and doctoral studies. Abilov has taught at both Belarusian State University and the Belarusian Institute of Law, and has published works on the history and ethnography of the South Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran. He serves as the editor-in-chief of the 'Vestnik of the Talysh National Academy,' an international scientific journal focused on the study of the Talysh people. In July 2024, he was arrested in Azerbaijan during a family visit and faces severe charges that human rights advocates believe are politically motivated due to his research on ethnic minorities.
