Ignacio Morgado

Ignacio Morgado is a prominent Spanish neuroscientist born in 1951 in San Vicente de Alcántara, Badajoz. Initially aiming to become a telecommunications engineer, he shifted his focus to psychology, medicine, and ultimately earned his doctorate in psychobiology from the University of Ruhr in Germany. He founded one of the first laboratories dedicated to studying the mind at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he later directed the Institute of Neuroscience. As an emeritus professor, Morgado has dedicated himself to public outreach, authoring several books and articles, including his latest work, 'El espejo de la imaginación' (2025), which explores the complexities of consciousness. He emphasizes the importance of understanding brain diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, advocating for multidisciplinary approaches in neuroscience.
