Ilamparthi AR is a young Indian chess prodigy who became the country’s 90th Grandmaster in 2023. Born in 2009 in Tamil Nadu, he began his chess journey at a very young age, quickly rising through the ranks to become a formidable competitor on the national and international stages. His discipline and dedication to the game have been recognized by his coach, GM Shyam Sundar Mohanraj, who took him under his wing after seeing his potential. Despite personal challenges, including family responsibilities and financial pressures, Ilamparthi has remained focused on his goal of becoming a world champion, showcasing remarkable talent and resilience in his pursuit of excellence in chess.
