Ileana Gyulai Ienei

Ileana Gyulai Ienei was a highly esteemed Romanian fencer, renowned for her remarkable achievements in the sport. She was a key member of the national team that won the world championship in 1969 and earned two Olympic bronze medals in foil fencing at the 1968 and 1972 Games. Beyond her athletic prowess, she was celebrated for her dedication and support to her husband, Emeric Ienei, a legendary football coach. Their enduring partnership was marked by mutual respect and shared experiences in both personal and professional realms. Ileana passed away in August 2021 and will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Oradea, a city they both cherished.
