Ilkka Kuusisto
Ilkka Kuusisto (1932-2023) was a prominent Finnish composer, conductor, and educator, known for his significant contributions to Finnish opera and music education. He served as the artistic director of the Finnish National Opera from 1984 to 1992 and was recognized for his diverse body of work, which includes numerous operas. Born into a musical family, he was the son of composer Taneli Kuusisto and the father of celebrated violinists Pekka and Jaakko Kuusisto, as well as actress Lotta Kuusisto. Kuusisto was honored with the title of professor in 1992 and received the State Prize for Music in 2007, reflecting his impact on the cultural landscape of Finland.
