Ioan Povară

Ioan Povară (1942–2022) was a renowned Romanian speleologist and former director of the 'Emil Racoviță' Institute of Speleology. He is best known for his extensive explorations of the hot caves in Romania, particularly the Peștera lui Adam, where he led teams to discover unique geological formations such as flexible stalactites. His pioneering research contributed significantly to the understanding of karstic phenomena and geothermal activity in the region.
