Ioana Izabela Odor

Ioana Izabela Odor, known as the 'woman in the blue dress', became a symbol of the violent events during the miners' protests in Romania in June 1990. At the age of 74, she is a retired researcher from the Institute of Metrology. Her iconic image, captured by photographer Andrei Iliescu, shows her confronting miners who were summoned by then-President Ion Iliescu. In recent interviews, she has expressed her disdain for Iliescu, stating that he does not deserve honors and should be remembered for his actions during his presidency.
