Ioannis Pelousis

Ioannis Pelousis, born in 1956 in Korçë, Albania, is a prominent Orthodox Christian leader who has recently been elected as the new Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and all Albania. Previously serving as the Metropolitan of Korçë since 1998, he was appointed after the passing of the late Archbishop Anastasios. Ioannis has a rich history of religious dedication, having secretly practiced Christianity during Albania's atheistic regime and later pursuing theological studies at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Boston. His leadership is marked by a commitment to uphold the traditions of the Orthodox Church and to advocate for its rights within Albanian society.
