His career began at the age of 18, and he quickly became one of the most celebrated voices in Romanian folk music, known for his heartfelt performances of doine, ballads, and party songs. Over his lifetime, he recorded more than 50 albums and captivated audiences with his unique style, often incorporating traditional themes. Dolănescu was also a father to two sons, one of whom followed in his musical footsteps. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 65.
