Iris Mavrakis

For over three years, she has dedicated herself to uncovering the lost history of tuberculosis patients in Rhodes, particularly focusing on the Eleousa Sanatorium that operated from 1947 to 1970. Through her research, which includes gathering oral testimonies and documenting abandoned buildings, she aims to shed light on the stigma surrounding tuberculosis and restore the memories of those affected. Her recent exhibition, 'For My Breath,' showcases photographs and stories from the sanatorium, inviting visitors to engage with this often-overlooked chapter of history.
