Isabella Leonarda

Isabella Leonarda was a notable Italian Baroque composer and one of the few women to gain recognition in the male-dominated field of classical music during the 17th century. Born in 1620, she spent most of her life in a convent in Novara, where she composed a variety of sacred music, including motets and sonatas. Her contributions to music are celebrated for their emotional depth and complexity, showcasing her talent and unique perspective as a female composer of her time.
