Ishida Mitsunari was a Japanese samurai and a key figure during the late Sengoku period. He is best known for his opposition to Tokugawa Ieyasu and his role as the leader of the Western Army during the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, which ultimately led to his defeat and the rise of the Tokugawa shogunate.
