Islem Gafsi

Islem Gafsi is an economist who has studied the socio-economic realities of women's employment in Tunisia. She noted that despite policies aimed at women's empowerment, the labor participation rate for women has only doubled from 19% in 1975 to 34% in 2024. Gafsi has also pointed out significant shifts in the Tunisian job market, with a decline in agricultural employment and an increase in the service sector, while raising concerns about the low participation of youth under 25 in the workforce.
