Islem Ould Mohamed Mokhtar

Islem Ould Mohamed Mokhtar serves as the regional representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty in the Brakna region of Mauritania. Recently, he has been in the news for overseeing the summer rice harvesting campaign for the 2024/2025 season in the region of Atrarzah, which has seen significant progress with over 60% of the harvest completed. He reported a record increase in cultivated areas, reaching 46,000 hectares, and anticipates a yield of approximately 230,000 to 276,000 tons of raw rice, contributing to the country's goal of self-sufficiency in food production.
