Ismet Turković

Ismet Turković is the sole breeder of the indigenous Zetska žuja sheep in Montenegro, based in Podgorica. He has dedicated his life to preserving this rare breed, which has dwindled from around 500 to fewer than 100 individuals. Turković emphasizes the breed's cultural significance and criticizes the government's inadequate support and subsidies for its preservation. Despite his family's long tradition of raising Zetska žuja sheep, he raises concerns about their impending extinction and appeals for more substantial government assistance to ensure their survival.
