Isreal Brambila

Isreal Brambila is a Mexican citizen who gained notoriety in New Zealand after being arrested for possession of nearly 14kg of methamphetamine and over $360,000 in cash while operating under the guise of a tourist. His arrest was part of Operation Settler, which targeted a transnational organized crime group involved in drug trafficking. After pleading guilty to drug charges, he was sentenced to six years in prison in December 2023. Brambila's case highlighted the ongoing issue of organized crime's influence in New Zealand and raised questions about the methods used to smuggle drugs into the country.
