Itay Shabi

Itay Shabi is a 43-year-old resident of Kibbutz Beeri in Israel, who has become a symbol of resilience in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack that devastated his community. On that fateful day, he courageously protected his family during the assault, which resulted in the death of many around him, including his in-laws. Following this traumatic experience, Shabi took on the significant role of overseeing the reconstruction of Kibbutz Beeri, as many of its homes were destroyed. Despite his determination to help rebuild the community, he harbors deep-seated fears and doubts about returning to the area, expressing a radical shift in his views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, advocating for the removal of Palestinians from Gaza.
