Ivan Platonovich Kalyaev

Ivan Platonovich Kalyaev was a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party and is best known for assassinating Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich on February 17, 1905. His act of violence was seen as a political statement against the autocratic regime and highlighted the intense revolutionary fervor of the time.
