Jacob Bogdani
Jacob Bogdani, also known as Jakub Bogdan, was a prominent Baroque painter born in 1658 in Prešov, Slovakia. He gained recognition as a court painter for English royalty, including Kings William I and II and Queen Anne Stuart. His works are celebrated for their vibrant still life compositions and have found a place in prestigious royal collections, particularly in London. Despite his success abroad, Bogdani remains less known in his home country, where only three of his paintings exist, two of which are held by the Slovak National Gallery. His notable work, 'Cock and Other Birds by Ruins in the Landscape,' recently purchased by financier Patrik Tkáč for nearly 400,000 euros, exemplifies his artistic legacy and the enduring appeal of his storytelling through art.
