Jacques Martial

Jacques Martial was a celebrated French actor, known for his role as Bain-Marie in the popular police series 'Navarro'. He passed away at the age of 69 after a long illness. Born in Saint-Mandé to Guadeloupean parents, he had a distinguished career in theater and film, collaborating with renowned directors such as Samuel Fuller and Robert Kramer. Martial was also a prominent voice actor, lending his voice to French dubs of Hollywood stars like Samuel L. Jackson and Denzel Washington. Beyond his artistic contributions, he was an advocate for the memory of slavery and worked to enhance the visibility of Black artists, serving as the president of the Mémorial ACTe, a museum dedicated to the history of slavery in Guadeloupe. He was appointed as the deputy mayor of Paris in 2022, focusing on overseas territories.
