James Davis III

James Davis III is a former inmate who experienced a significant cultural shift in his prison unit after the introduction of a Freedom Reads library. His engagement with the library led to informal reading clubs that enhanced communication and interpersonal skills among inmates. Following the commutation of his sentence, Davis joined Freedom Reads as a communications employee, viewing it as a dream come true. He advocates for the importance of literature in helping those incarcerated cultivate a rich imaginative life and drive personal change.
