James Thornhill

James Thornhill was an English painter and the first to be appointed as the official historical painter to the British monarch. He is most renowned for his extensive work on the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, which took him nearly two decades to complete. His grand ceiling murals showcase a blend of historical and mythological themes, prominently featuring King William III and Queen Mary II.
