Jamshid Shamirani
Jamshid Shamirani, born in 1941 in Tehran, was a renowned Iranian musician and master of the tombak. He studied mathematics in France but became deeply involved in music, studying under the influential Hossein Tehrani. Over his 15-year tenure at the Centre for Eastern Studies at the Sorbonne, Shamirani taught numerous students from various nationalities and significantly contributed to the global recognition of the tombak. He collaborated with many esteemed musicians, participated in international tours, and founded the Chemirani Ensemble, which became a leading Iranian music group abroad. Shamirani passed away in France, leaving behind a rich musical legacy.
