Jan Mühlstein

Jan Mühlstein is a Czech-born physicist and journalist who emigrated to Germany in 1969 following political repression during the Prague Spring. He has been a prominent figure in the Jewish community, co-founding the liberal Jewish community Beth Shalom in Munich and serving as the chairman of the Union of Progressive Jews in Germany from 1999 to 2011. Mühlstein is currently focused on writing a family chronicle that explores the history of his Jewish ancestors, drawing from the experiences of his parents who survived the Holocaust. His work aims to highlight the resilience and positive identity of Jewish culture beyond the narrative of persecution.
