Jana Derjak

Jana Derjak is a 25-year-old Ukrainian woman whose life was drastically impacted by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Recently, she gained attention after her emotional response to the destruction of her apartment in Kiev by a Russian missile was captured in a poignant photograph. In less than three weeks, she lost two homes due to the conflict, first in her hometown of Dobropillia and then in Kiev. Jana is a pharmacist and is currently navigating the challenges of finding a new place to live while taking care of her young son, Damir, and supporting her husband, Alexander. Despite the hardships, she remains hopeful and focused on the safety and well-being of her family.
