Javier Alberto Ayala Amaya

Major General (r) Javier Alberto Ayala Amaya was a distinguished Colombian military officer and educator, serving as the rector of the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada until his passing on June 1, 2023. With a career that began in 1998, he achieved the rank of Major General and held various leadership roles within the Colombian Army, including commander of the ASPC Number 26 Battalion and director of the School of Military Justice. He was highly educated, holding multiple degrees in law, military sciences, and security, including a doctorate from the Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio in Spain. Ayala Amaya was dedicated to human rights and international humanitarian law, serving as an instructor in these fields internationally and contributing significantly to military education in Colombia.
