Javier Bohórquez

Javier Bohórquez is a prominent figure in the Colombian coffee industry, serving on the board of directors of Fedecafé, the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia. A medical graduate from Universidad Javeriana, he moved to La Vega in 1969 and became a coffee farmer, acquiring his first coffee farm in 1977. Bohórquez's extensive involvement in coffee organizations includes 18 years on the Departmental Coffee Committee and over 23 years on the National Coffee Committee. He advocates for the National Coffee Fund, emphasizing that it is publicly funded by coffee growers and not government money. Recently, he has been in the news discussing the dynamics of coffee pricing amidst global production challenges, particularly highlighting the impacts of climate change on coffee cultivation.
