Jayant Narlikar

Jayant Narlikar was a prominent Indian astrophysicist and cosmologist known for proposing an alternative to the Big Bang Theory, advocating for a quasi-steady state model of the universe. He was a visionary educator and founded the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in Pune, significantly contributing to the democratization of science in India. Narlikar authored numerous scientific papers and science fiction works, blending scientific principles with imaginative storytelling. His recent passing at the age of 86 marked the loss of one of India's most influential scientific minds.
