Jayne

Jayne was a young woman from Christchurch who tragically passed away due to complications from Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (Arfid), an eating disorder characterized by sensory sensitivities and rigid eating patterns. Diagnosed with autism, she faced numerous challenges in her battle with food, exacerbated by allergies to various food types. Despite multiple hospitalizations and efforts by her parents, Mark and Julie, to secure adequate care, she ultimately succumbed to her illness at the age of 33. Her death has brought attention to the critical lack of support for individuals with eating disorders in New Zealand.
