Jecheskiel David Kirszenbaum
Jecheskiel David Kirszenbaum (1900-1954) was a Polish Jewish painter educated at the Bauhaus in Weimar under notable artists like Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. His life and work were tragically impacted by the Holocaust; his wife and family perished in concentration camps, and he himself was interned in French labor camps during World War II. Kirszenbaum's artwork, particularly his piece 'Les Internés de Saint-Sauveur' created in 1941, serves as a poignant reminder of the horrors faced by those in internment camps. After the war, he continued to live in France until his death in 1954, and his legacy has been revived through the efforts of his descendants.
