Jeffrey Amherst

Jeffrey Amherst (1717-1797) was a British army officer and colonial administrator known for his role as a commander during the French and Indian War. He is notably remembered for his controversial tactics, including the alleged use of biological warfare against Native American tribes, including a reported attempt to use smallpox-infected blankets to weaken the enemy.
