Jernigan

Jernigan is a veteran CDC official who directed the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, playing a critical role in influenza preparedness and response. He joined the CDC’s epidemic intelligence service in 1994 and has worked extensively on disease prevention strategies. Jernigan resigned in August 2025 in protest of the perceived politicization of science and a decline in trust within the agency following Monarez's ouster.
