Jesús Castillo Villegas

Jesús Castillo Villegas, affectionately known as Don Chus, was a beloved Salvadoran educator and the last of the historic booksellers in San Salvador. Born in 1932, he dedicated his life to teaching and nurturing generations of students. In 1995, he founded 'Segunda Lectura', a cherished bookstore that became a sanctuary for book lovers and a hub for writers, poets, and intellectuals. Known for his warm hospitality and engaging conversations, Don Chus offered not just books but a welcoming space that encouraged literary exploration. He passed away in March 2025, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge and community, as well as a unique 'Libro de Oro' that captured the memories of countless visitors.
