Jesús Evaristo Sánchez is a prominent archaeologist and a representative of the Commission for the Protection and Legislation of Archaeological, Historical, and Paleontological Heritage, who has been in the news for presenting a formal complaint to the Fiscalía General de la República in Quintana Roo regarding the alleged destruction of at least 47 Maya archaeological monuments during the construction of the Parque de la Memoria Báalam Tun.
