Jheralding had originally traveled to the United States with hopes of achieving the 'American Dream' and providing a better life for her family. Her mother reported that Jheralding suffered severe abuse in prison, which was evident during their video calls, where she showed visible signs of physical harm. Her death marked a significant case, as she was one of multiple inmates who had died in the facility since 2020.
