Jim Edwards

Jim Edwards is a dedicated kaumātua from Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, known for his immense contributions to the community, particularly in promoting inclusivity and cultural education through the construction of a carved waka taua, or war canoe. Despite facing personal challenges, including a recent diagnosis of stage 4 prostate cancer, Edwards remains committed to advocating for the dredging of Te Awa o Mokotūāraro to ensure its accessibility for future generations. He has invested over $150,000 of his own funds into community projects and continues to inspire others with his hands-on approach to support individuals with disabilities.
