Joaqim Chissano

Joaqim Chissano is a former President of Mozambique, serving from 1994 to 2004. He is renowned for his role in promoting peace and reconciliation following a brutal civil war in Mozambique. Chissano has been an advocate for democratic governance and sustainable development in Africa and has continued to influence regional policy as a member of the Eastern and Southern African Commission on Drugs (ESACD), which aims to reform drug policies and promote health-centered approaches to drug use.
