Joaquim Jonqueres

Joaquim Jonqueres is a hunting and fishing guide originally from France, now residing in the Castelo Branco region of Portugal. He made headlines after capturing a record-breaking European catfish (Silurus glanis) weighing 102 kilograms and measuring 2.33 meters in length in the Pônsul River, a tributary of the Tagus. Having previously caught hundreds of these fish, Jonqueres described the experience of battling such a large specimen as extraordinary. His catch is significant not only as a personal achievement but also for potentially boosting fishing tourism in the region.
