Joel Watts

Joel Watts is a professor of biochemistry at the University of Toronto and holds the Canada Research Chair in Protein Misfolding Disorders. He is known for his research on prion diseases, including Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) and chronic wasting disease (CWD). Recently, he expressed strong concerns regarding the Canadian government's decision to halt funding for brain autopsies related to CJD, arguing that this move could hinder the understanding of potential human cases of CWD.
