
Johanes Baptista Suratno
Johanes Baptista Suratno, commonly known as JB Suratno or RAT, was an esteemed photojournalist for the Indonesian newspaper Kompas, where he served from the 1970s until his retirement in 2002. He began his career in the darkroom, developing photographs before becoming the official photographer for the Presidential Palace, capturing significant moments across four presidencies. Suratno's dedication to his craft and his ability to document everyday life through the lens earned him recognition, including the prestigious Adinegoro Award in 1978. He passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 81.
